On Wednesday, 20 September 2023, Central Montana Works! will be hosting an event to present to our Great Falls Area Chamber of Commerce members, as well as the Downtown Great Falls Association. Done in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, we will be presenting on the current state of childcare in Montana, including focused discussion on what is happening right here in our own communities.
Did you know?
- For Montana, the estimated annual economic impact of the infant-and-toddler childcare crisis is $317M
- A Montana family can expect to pay just over 31% of their median household on childcare every year.
- A Montana family will pay approximately 43% more than the average cost of rent in Montana, per month, in childcare.
- A 2023 report shows 26% of parents quit a job because of issues related to childcare. That same report also shows 23% were terminated, 17% were demoted; 40% turned down a job, and 25% turned down a promotion.
Why do we share this?
Because it matters to you as a business owner.
This is for you, as an industry partner, community leader, entrepreneur, or family, to come and hear more about this important issue, and its devastating impacts on workforce participation rates in our community. You will hear firsthand from subject matter experts on what the business community can do to make tangible, positive impact in our community, but also the financial benefits of being more involved.
Predictable childcare enables a stable workforce. When, as a business owner, you can recruit and retain a qualified labor force that is not struggling with childcare issues, our families, our economy, and your business are strengthened exponentially.
We will have presenters from:
U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation – An overview of the national childcare landscape
Zero to Five Montana – For a look at the statewide and local situation
Great Falls College MSU – For an introduction to their Early Childhood Education career path
