Community Impact Specialist - Early Childhood Success

Reports to:                     Community Impact Director
Salary Range:                 $40,000 - $44,000 Annually
 
Purpose of the Position:
The intent of this position is to dedicate focus to increasing early education access, developing a pipeline of early education providers, working with families to ensure connectivity to enriching experiences for their young children and bridging relationships for collaboration between Early Childhood and Elementary Educators to ensure that all children enter Kindergarten prepared to succeed.
 
This position works closely with staff, volunteers, and community partners to advance Community Impact goals in education.  Primary responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and facilitating community-wide, collaborative efforts to impact education outcomes.  This position provides support to the Community Impact Director and community initiative groups.   
 
Overarching Responsibilities:

  • FACILITATE IMPACT WORK – coordinate meetings and activities of groups working to advance the community impact agenda and mission of the organization.
    • Work directly with stakeholders to strategize and achieve goals in education.
    • Engage and challenge community coalitions and volunteers to efficiently advance work plans and achieve measurable goals.
    • Develop & expand knowledge of issues and best practices related to impact work.
  • Special Event Coordinationparticipate in detailed planning of special events that advance the Community Impact goals.
    • Work with Community Impact Director to establish appropriate/shared resources.
    • Work with Marketing Director to attract and retain volunteers/participants for special events.
    • Work with Resource Development Director to identify, pursue and obtain financial resources
    • Develop partnerships that mobilize and leverage resources.
  • COMMUNITY RELATIONS – develop and cultivate relations with appropriate community stakeholders.
    • Establish professional relationships with appropriate governmental, civic and community organizations, businesses, service providers and invested individuals to advance and raise awareness of Community Impact work.
  • OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED BY THE Community Impact Director – this may include work on volunteer events, campaign participation and outside committee action.
Duties by Current Topic:
  • CAMPAIGN: Lead the execution of a 15month community campaign highlighted the importance if early childhood experiences and education.
  • Workforce Development & Capacity Building: Collaborate with community partners to increase and retain the number of licensed, quality early childhood education facilities within our county.
  • Culture & Inclusion: Explore, develop and establish sustainability for early childhood opportunities that are equitable for all and reflect the diversity of our community. Areas of interest include (but are not limited to):
    • Native American Families
    • Military Families
    • Families with Special Needs Children
  • Shared Metrics: Prioritize working with initiative partners to report on shared metrics consistently. Leverage those metric trends to formulate strategic actions to advance the initiative’s goal.
  • Connection: Develop a community supported host network for families that advertises resources/events for families with children ages 0-8yrs old.
  • Special Projects: lead or assist as appropriate on Kindergarten Books, Read 2 Me, Kindergarten Shirts & Graduation Walks.
  • Other duties as assigned
 Qualifications:
  • Required High School Diploma
  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree (in education or appropriate field) or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Preferred related experience in early childhood education or community initiative leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for facilitating group process
  • Demonstrated public speaking ability
  • Computer literacy with a working knowledge of standard office software
  • Demonstrated ability to lead meetings/community discussions
  • Ability to develop, prioritize and complete work plans, goals and objectives
  • Ability to work independently
  • Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance
