About Us

Family Promise of Great Falls is a nonprofit that operates as a nontraditional homeless shelter serving children and their families in Great Falls, Montana.

Our mission is to end childhood homelessness, one family at a time. We are one of 200+ Family Promise Affiliates across the country working to change the lives of 1 million children by 2030. We do this by raising support and providing 5 points of service: SHELTER, PREVENTION, STABILIZATION, COMMUNITY, and PROMISE.

Our SHELTER services are the core of the Family Promise model. We accept 1-4 families with children who are experiencing homelessness. By night, the families stay at a rotating schedule of host sites, based in local congregations, and staffed by trained volunteers. By day, the children go to daycare and/or school, and the parents work with our staff on a 60-day action plan that is personalized to their individual needs. The goal is to help each family ''graduate'' by achieving housing, income, and transportation. When a family ''graduates'' from the program, we help them move into their new home and gift them with donated furniture and household goods.

Our PREVENTION services offer limited eviction prevention and rapid rehousing aid for families with children. Our STABILIZATION services provide 2 years of aftercare for shelter program graduates, as well as the Drive To Greatness program. As COMMUNITY partners, we collaborate with other agencies. We share research and advocate for homelessness issues because we believe that every child deserves a home and every family has PROMISE.
