Family Promise of Great Falls
- Organizations, Nonprofit & Associations
Family Promise of Great Falls is a nonprofit organization serving homeless children and their families. We partner with houses of faith wo provide families with food and shelter, thereby supporting basic needs o that parents can concentrate on becoming self reliant using Family Promise's comprehensive case management services. We serve up to four families at a time or up to 14 individuals. Families may be referred to job skills training as well as budgeting and household management assistance to ensure their success once they leave the program.
Twenty eight congregations and faith communities along with the University of Providence provide private family bedroom space and 3 meals each day for one week about four times a year. Trained volunteers in those congregations serve as overnight hosts, prepare nutritious meals and offer warm hospitality.
Family promise is cost-efficient. A small staff and more than 800 trained volunteers help us operate at approximately 1/3 of the cost of a traditional shelter. Our model is effective in supporting homeless families with children as they achieve independence. Our average successful graduating family stays with us 39 days, compared to a national average of 60 days.
